In this workshop, Papa Newt follows up the presentation he gave last year on patron Saints and the Altar of Saint Joseph, with a survey of the many saints called upon by Catholic rootworkers and spiritual mediums for aid and intercession in matters of love, money, health, and protection. The use of framed chromolithographic prints -- popularly called chromos -- is described in old conjure grimoires like "Genuine Black and White Magic of Marie Laveau" and each participant will receive a selection of these old-school adjuncts to Catholic folk magic. TAKE-HOME: A two-page flyer on the veneration of Catholic saints in hoodoo folk magic, plus an assortment of saint medals and full-sized chromo prints of favourite saints to frame and place at your altar. |

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2019 Genuine Black and White Magic with catherine yronwode Hoodoo's first grimoire and spell-book, originally edited by the famed folklorist and novelist Zora Neale Hurston, holds a place that no other conjure book can claim, for it provides the modern practitioner with practical training in authentic New Orleans rootwork, circa 1928. Although the author was certainly not Marie Laveau, the more than 50 rites and rituals in this volume present the classic hoodoo spells of the Crescent City, using herbs, candles, incense, powders, baths, and mojo hands to get your way in matters of luck, love, money, family, friendship, protection, uncrossing, and cursing. Lucky Mojo Books presents a new edition of this seminal text, restored and revised by catherine yronwode. Black and White Magic is truly the one book that every conjure doctor must posses! TAKE-HOME: The 96-page book: "Genuine Black and White Magic of Marie Laveau" and a powerful Yard Sprinkle to Control Evil Neighbors, as described in the book, which we will prepare during the class. |
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Sunday May 12, 2019 Foot-Tracks in the Dust with Papa Gee How to collect, work with, and make your own dirts, dusts, and powders in the Southern Folklore Tradition. From Graveyard Dirt, Goofer Dust, Magnetic Sand, Red Brick Dust, and Highly Perfumed Sachets to the dredging flour used in preparing Fried Chicken and the sweet and spicy sprinkles on Cinnamon toast -- Powders are everywhere in both African American hoodoo and European American folk magic. In Papa Gee's hands-on class, you will earn how to tap into this vital form of magic, and he will guide you as you prepare two powders -- one to jinx your enemies and one for the establishment of domestic happiness and prosperity in the home. TAKE-HOME: A two-page flyer and two spiritual powders that you will make during the workshop. |

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2019 Making and Using Jewish Amulet Bowls with Dr. Jeremy Weiss Some of the very oldest written charms and talismans of protection and desire are the Jewish Amulet Bowls made of clay and buried in the foundations of ancient homes around the Middle East. In this world-wide folk magic workshop, Dr. Jeremy Weiss, the author of "Vulvamancy" and a noted expert on the history and practice of historical and contemporary Jewish magic, will reveal the secrets of these ancient artifacts and lead a workshop in which every participant will fashion a personal, highly effective, and spiritually charged Amulet Bowl to take home for private use. No prior experiences with pottery, the Kabbalah, or the Hebrew language are required -- everyone can make a full-size Jewish Amulet Bowl, and hands-on instruction will be provided to all. 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM Sunday May 12, 2019 Numerology Training with catherine yronwode Godfrey Spencer's "Secrets of Numbers Revealed" was, until it went out of print, the best known hoodoo book on the science of "Numberology." To this restored and revised edition of a well-loved classic, catherine yronwode has added much more information, gleaned from 19th century texts and from her own research into the so-called Saturn or Lo Shu Square. Using nothing more than your birthdate and full name, this workshop will teach you how to derive a startlingly accurate character analysis, how to create a run-down that reveals your minor and major lucky numbers for betting, how to determine the lucky and unlucky days in any month, and how, if you are so inclined, to subtly change the spelling of your name to make yourself a luckier, happier, and more successful person. TAKE-HOME: A brand-new 96-page book on Numerology for character reading and lucky numbers, plus two personal work-outs on your own name and birthdate. |

Many of the Board of Bishops of the AISC and our pastors will embrace you with a sacred Buddhist token of our love and affection, in the form of a blessed khata scarf. As all good things must come to an end, join the circle of new friends and old as we say goodbye and wish each other well!
