David Shi, an American of Manchurian heritage, brings us authentic spells and methodologies from this remote corner of the world, and teaches us how to use the tools and techniques of North Asian magic. DAVID SHI will open your eyes to cultural customs and spell-casting methods that you may never have known existed, so an illustrated 96 page book will be provided for your home study. 11:00 PM - 12:00 PM Sunday May 15, 2016 Teas and Tisanes: Making Magical Potions and Infusions Most rootworkers are comfortable putting a pinch of an herb in a mojo bag, but what you may not know is that there is a long history of conjure practitioners prescribing these same herbs as teas for their clients. MADAME PAMITA explains this ancient art and teaches you how to select appropriate edible magical herbs and roots to infuse into potent beverages for money, love, luck, protection, and health. TAKE-HOME: A two-page flyer on magical teas and tisanes, a teacup, muslin steeping-bag, and herbs for making your own Prosperity Tea. |

TAKE-HOME: A two-page flyer describing the work, materials for your own project, and your own sewing kit (including a needle threader!). |
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Sunday, May 15, 2016 Our Hoodoo History: The Revival of the Occult Shop Pamphlet As a historian of folk magic, CATHERINE YRONWODE has made it her mission to keep the continuity of African-American hoodoo front and center in the 21st century. This year she introduces a new reprint line from Lucky Mojo, starting with the most popular -- and longest out-of-print -- classic of candle and conjure shop literature. Instruction manuals of this type, much loved and often consulted by rootworkers from the 1890s through the 1990s, are now so rare that most newcomers to our community have never had a chance to learn the wondrous and practical methods they teach. Learn the history of these books, and take a trip back in time to read the secrets they contain. TAKE-HOME: A brand-new 96-page restored and revised edition of "Legends of Incense, Herb and Oil Magic" by Lewis de Claremont from 1936, plus a sheet of Talismanic Seals from "The Sixth and Seventh Books of Moses" as described in the book. |

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2016 Amulets and Talismans: The Art of Consecrated Curios Many people carry lucky charms or wear protective talismans to bring in good fortune and keep evil at bay -- but to get the most out of them, you've got to know how! In this power-packed workshop, MS. ROBIN will help you select, prepare, and bless your own amulets. Each participant will receive 9 talismanic charms in a gift bag, designed to cover a wide variety of life situations such as luck, love, money, health, and power -- and then, under the helping hands of a true hoodoo mentor, will fix and prepare them for use. TAKE-HOME: A two-page flyer on talismanic magic, plus your own personal starter collection of 9 lucky amulets and charms in an organza bag. |
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Sunday, May 15, 2016 Bone Reading: Mastering Groupings and Configurations In this workshop MICHELE JACKSON will teach you how to interpret the bones when they fall into groups, rather than interpreting them each as individual pieces. Reading pieces in groups can enhance your reading skills by providing additional information about a particular bone. This allows the reader to describe people and actions in more detail, thus making the information more useful to the client. We will look at and interpret several sample groupings during the workshop. TAKE-HOME: A two-page flyer describing the work, a bottle of homemade cleansing spray for your divination tools, a miniature pair of handcuffs, and a Cougar bone. |
